Job summary

Austin Commercial is seeking an experienced MEP Manager I for our North Texas Division to oversee the installation of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, sheet metal, insulation, sprinkler, and life-safety systems on project sites.

This on-site leadership role requires coordinating shop drawings, ensuring code compliance, and driving projects to meet schedule and budget while coordinating with owners, architects, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
• 5–8 years of MEP experience with GC or mechanical contractor.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training completed or to be obtained within first year.
• Proficiency in project management software.
• Proficiency with cost projection, scheduling, financial analysis, budget reviews and labor reports.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate mechanical/electrical design complexity and estimate construction costs.
• Serve as technical resource in meetings with owners and architects.
• Attend weekly meetings with owners, architects, and subcontractors; outline work, phasing, and scheduling issues.
• Ensure timely submission and review of mechanical/electrical shop drawings; coordinate equipment delivery.
• Coordinate MEP scope, overlay/CAD systems to prevent space conflicts; coordinate shop drawings between subs.
• QA/QC of mechanical systems; ensure proper rough-ins and timely installation.
• Inspect electrical shop drawings for rough-ins, switchgear layout, and emergency generator equipment; liaise with city inspectors for on-time delivery.
• Coordinate life-safety systems installations and occupancy certificates; manage fire and life-safety-related coordination.
• Review proposed changes for cost and schedule impact; resolve technical issues with architects.
• Review payoff/pay requests from subcontractors and resolve payments issues.
• Act as liaison between owners, architects, general contractors and all disciplines.
