This position is located at district headquarters in Roseville and may have the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule that includes in office and teleworking time. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

This position exists to provide project management, direction, and leadership from inception to completion of projects and studies as well as lead, facilitate, and negotiate agreements within Ramsey and Anoka Counties. The position serves as the primary contact for public agencies, project partners, and the general public regarding project activities. This position exists to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, public officials, and internal & external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensure as a professional engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID).
  • Three (3) years of post-registration engineering experience (Engineer Senior level or equivalent) that demonstrates knowledge of principles and practices of Pre-design, Final Design, Planning, Traffic Engineering, State Aid and Construction.
  • Experience in project management sufficient to prioritize and schedule multiple projects to meet letting schedules and to manage budgets and staff.
  • Knowledge of MnDOT standards and federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies and codes as they relate to transportation system planning, design, construction, maintenance and operation.
If advanced to the finalist pool, in addition to the preceding qualifications, you will also be assessed on the following criteria during a job interview:
  • Human relations skills to demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with the public, businesses, elected officials and other governmental organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing sufficient to give direction, facilitate meetings, make public presentations, answer project specific and policy questions, and write letters and other documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years of transportation engineering experience.
  • Experience managing consultant contracts.
  • Experience negotiating cost participation/funding.
