Upstream is seeking a correspondent based in Houston to illuminate the transformation of North American energy companies as they address climate change within a complex geopolitical context. The role covers the US and Canada, with potential coverage of other relevant beats.

You will join Upstream’s international news team and may travel; work remotely in Houston with strong support from the global team, reporting to the Editor-in-Chief.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or higher.
• Strong online news-reporting and feature-writing skills.
• Ability to build and maintain reliable source networks.
• Proven ability to report exclusive news quickly and accurately.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exclusive news, big-picture analysis, features and commentary on energy companies’ strategies and projects.
• Break news to ensure Upstream Online remains a must-read source in US, Canada, and beyond.
• Cover carbon capture, renewables and other low-carbon energy initiatives for Upstream and related newsletters.
• Contribute to special editions, show dailies and major industry conferences.
• Some travel is required for this role.
