Job summary

Liberty in North Korea is seeking a diligent nonprofit accountant to manage regular bookkeeping, payroll entries, and monthly reconciliations. You will process external payments, assist fundraising invoicing, and track offline donations.

The role partners with the Senior Director of Finance to monitor budgets and prepare for external audits. The position requires 3+ years of accounting experience, Netsuite/Expensify proficiency, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business preferred.
• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• Proficiency with Netsuite and Expensify (or similar softwares).
• Excellent working knowledge of Google Workspace, and advanced knowledge of Google Sheets.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Oversee regular bookkeeping activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, deposits, and payroll journal entries.
• Process external payments to vendors, third party contractors, and clients.
• Assist development team by providing invoices for mid-tier and major gift donors.
• Log and track offline donations such as checks and direct deposits.
• Prepare bi-monthly payroll journal entries.
• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis (bank, payment processing, credit card).
• Review and approve monthly expense reports to ensure accurate records.
• Support internal audits and GAAP compliance; assist with Form 990 submission.
• Prepare quarterly financial reports for leadership and Board.
