Job summary

Alpert Jewish Family Service in West Palm Beach, FL seeks a Staff Accountant to support the Accounting Department with general ledger reconciliations, financial statement prep, and day-to-day accounting duties in a mission-driven nonprofit setting.

The role reports to the Controller and requires strong GAAP knowledge, advanced Excel, and attention to detail. You'll help streamline close processes and collaborate with a dedicated team to advance sound financial stewardship.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of GAAP and non-profit/fund accounting concepts preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills with formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience; non-profit experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with income statement reconciliations and variances analysis.
• Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for reporting.
• Support accounts payable/receivable processes and journal entries.
• Maintain general ledger and grant-tracking schedules for non-profits.
• Assist with audit preparation and payroll-related entries.
