Job summary

Markent Personnel in Brooklyn, NY seeks an HR Manager to provide strategic and hands-on HR support across programs, managing employee lifecycle, relations, performance, compliance, compensation, and HR operations.

Working with the CHRO and leadership, you’ll foster an inclusive, mission-driven workplace, align HR practices with nonprofit standards, and ensure legal compliance while delivering practical HR solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Master’s or PHR/SPHR preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience.
• Nonprofit or social services experience preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
• Knowledge of policy development, implementation, and interpretation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in handling employee relations issues and conflict resolution.
• Ability to lead workforce planning and equity initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Ensure employee compliance with Policies and Procedures; serve as a point of contact for questions and conflicts.
• Coach and counsel management on employee relations and disciplinary actions.
• Conduct internal investigations to resolve employee relations issues.
• Oversee voluntary and involuntary employee separations and maintain HR records.
• Coordinate performance reviews and provide feedback, goal setting, and development plans.
• Maintain HRIS data integrity and generate HR reports for leadership and Board.
• Support training and employee wellness aligned with the mission.
• Partner with leadership on organizational development and workforce planning.
