Job summary

CP Unlimited is seeking an experienced General Counsel to lead legal affairs for its nonprofit services and affiliated programs in New York. The role emphasizes corporate governance, federal/state tax exemption matters, and regulatory compliance across multiple health and housing initiatives.

The attorney will draft and negotiate a wide range of contracts, manage external counsel, respond to subpoenas/FOIL requests, advise senior leadership on legal risk, and oversee corporate compliance

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and admitted to the New York State Bar in good standing.
• Minimum three years of U.S. legal experience after bar admission.
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Handle general corporate matters and perform legal research.
• Draft and negotiate contracts including consultant, vendor, lease, memorandums, and NDAs.
• Respond to Subpoenas and FOIL requests.
• Advise executive team on legal implications of Agency actions.
• Provide legal oversight for compliance, governance, and government contracts.
• Represent Agency in lawsuits and regulatory matters.
