Job summary

Kai Ming Head Start is seeking a Finance Manager in San Francisco to oversee accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting for the Head Start program. You will lead budgeting, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, and provide strategic financial leadership to program leadership.

The role requires deep nonprofit accounting experience, strong communication, and the ability to manage a small finance team while coordinating with auditors and funding sources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required; Head Start experience preferred.
• Minimum six years in non-profit accounting with at least 3 years in management.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to lead and train staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly and quarterly financial statements reflecting Head Start and funding sources.
• Ensure compliance with Head Start standards, state/city regulations, and OMB rules.
• Analyze program spending and advise on budgeting and spending controls.
• Develop financial planning tools and improve internal controls and reporting.
• Coordinate with auditors and funding sources for timely reimbursements.
• Supervise finance staff and maintain confidentiality of program data.
