Job summary

Cocoon House in Everett, WA seeks a Director of Finance to lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy for a nonprofit youth services organization. The role supervises two accounting staff and advises the CEO on financial health and risk management.

Responsibilities include managing grants, audits, payroll, and internal controls while collaborating with the board and finance committee to ensure transparency and sustainability.

Qualifications

• 5-7 yrs of progressive financial management or accounting experience
• Non-profit accounting experience preferred
• Experience managing public grants, billing, reporting and expense tracking
• Ability to prioritize deadlines with strong attention to detail
• Strong communication and advisory skills for leadership and program teams
• Experience with internal controls and regulatory compliance in nonprofits

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic financial planning and budget oversight with the CEO and board
• Manage a multi-million dollar budget and financial operations ensuring GAAP compliance
• Oversee payroll, reporting, cash flow, and general ledger functions
• Ensure grant compliance across federal, state, and local contracts
• Coach and develop the accounting staff and collaborate across departments
