Job summary

The Bowery Mission is seeking a Director of Finance to oversee the finances of Christian Herald Association and The Bowery Mission in New York. You will report to the CFO and manage payables, payroll, budgets, forecasts, and P&L reporting by location, project, grant and program.

Responsibilities include monthly and annual financial reporting, audit preparation, tax filings, and partnering with program leaders to align finance with mission goals.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years senior experience with financial oversight responsibilities.
• Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting.
• Experience with non-profit accounting and donation processing.

Responsibilities

• Oversees payables and bi-weekly payroll; sync with Bill.com.
• Manages A/P, cash management, payroll, benefits, and tax expenses.
• Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports; supports leadership with financial status.
• Participates in annual budgeting; provides management information for decision making.
• Reviews budget reports and supports strategic planning with CFO and leadership.
• Collaborates with program leaders to align finance with program operations and goals.
• Ensures audit, tax filings (Form 990, 1099, 5500) readiness and compliance.
