Job summary

The Public School Forum of North Carolina seeks a Finance Coordinator to support day-to-day financial administration in a nonprofit environment. You will report to the Finance Manager and work with the Director of People & Operations and the Development team to ensure accurate processing, grant compliance, and strong internal controls.

This full-time, hybrid Cary-based role requires 2–4 years of accounting experience, GAAP knowledge, and proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Paylocity, Google

Qualifications

• Two to four years of experience in reconciliations, reporting, grants, payroll support and accounting systems.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting standards.
• Experience with federal, state, and private grants management, compliance, and audits.
• Highest standards of integrity, judgment, and confidentiality.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; nonprofit accounting/finance background is a plus.
• Knowledge of payroll processing; Paylocity experience a plus.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office, including Excel.

Responsibilities

• Ensure GAAP compliance, grant requirements, and organizational policies.
• Maintain payroll records and wage/hour compliance.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable, credit card reconciliations, and day-to-day bookkeeping.
• Assist with sales and use tax claims and filings with the state.
• Assist with monthly reconciliations, annual audits, and fraud oversight.
• Support financial reporting and special finance projects.
• Maintain audit-ready financial records and reconcile gifts with development.
• Collaborate with staff, vendors, and external partners clearly and professionally.
