Job summary

CLA (CliftonLarsonAllen) seeks a Controller with nonprofit industry experience to join our CAAS practice in Northern Minnesota offices (Saint Cloud, Monticello, Alexandria, or Brainerd MN). You will lead financial planning, budgeting, and reporting, while ensuring internal controls and advising leadership on objectives and actions.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree, 7 years of accounting/financial experience (nonprofit back-office preferred), and strong Excel/QuickBooks skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• 7 years of relevant accounting and/or financial experience is required.
• Nonprofit industry and back-office accounting experience is highly preferred.
• CPA certification is preferred but not required.
• QuickBooks experience is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

Responsibilities

• Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting.
• Coordinate and direct financial planning, budgeting, procurements, or investment activities and prepare financial information.
• Prepare and/or direct preparation of financial statements, reports, forecasts, budgets, or regulatory reports.
• Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and advise on recommendations.
• Monitor ratio and KPI; supervise accounting staff and performance.
• Advise management on short-term and long-term financial objectives and actions.
• Communicate with boards, bankers, investors, and other stakeholders; assist with board presentations.
