Job summary

J2T Recruiting partners with a well-established nonprofit in Bozeman, MT to hire an Accounting Specialist who will support accounts payable, treasury and month-end close. The role blends hands-on accounting with ongoing learning and mentoring from a Controller and CFO.

In-office with some flexibility to work from home, you’ll help automate processes and improve how we manage donor-restricted spend, vendor relationships, and year-end reporting.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in accounts payable or general accounting.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort with automated accounting systems.
• Professional on the phone and not afraid to call a vendor to sort something out.
• You catch the thing that's off before the auditor does.

Responsibilities

• Own accounts payable from invoice to payment processing, including approvals, weekly check runs, ACH and wires.
• Monitor cash flow: inflows, outflows, short-term needs, bank accounts and wires.
• Be the primary contact for vendors and staff on payment questions; keep vendor records and W-9s current.
• Send AR invoices; manage corporate card charges and expense reports.
• Code and reconcile corporate card charges and expenses; support quick month-end close.
• Assist with month-end close, provide auditors with needed information, and handle annual 1099 filing.
• Identify process improvements and train staff on billing and expense platforms.
