Helping Hand is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our Finance team, reporting to the Controller/Director of Finance. You will manage accounts payable, cash receipts, and reconciliations while supporting financial reporting and compliance for a nonprofit focused on transforming lives through care and education.

The role is on-site in Illinois, with a 40-hour work week, a salary of $52,000–$57,000 per year, and up to 8% annual bonus potential plus a 403(b) retirement plan with company

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1-3 years of accounting experience, including AP/AR, ledger activities, or payroll processing.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, coding, approvals, payments and record maintenance.
• Coordinate cash receipts, deposits, and ensure revenue is recorded in the correct accounts.
• Reconcile monthly accounts including client funds and cards; verify charges and maintain documentation.
• Support monthly close, financial analyses, schedules, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with departments to resolve accounting questions and participate in meetings and special projects.
