Job summary

SA Recycling seeks a Nonferrous (NF) Retail Buyer to source from retail customers, grade materials, apply approved pricing, and complete accurate purchase records. You will work with yard staff to ensure safe receiving, sorting, and efficient handling while delivering courteous service.

The role requires basic math, data entry, and the ability to communicate in English and Spanish. Competitive pay, medical plans, 401k, weekly pay, and advancement opportunities are offered at the Brownsville site.

Qualifications

• Identify nonferrous metals and assess grade, condition, and contamination.
• Strong math skills for weights and prices in transactions.
• Ability to enter data accurately and learn purchasing procedures.
• Clear communication and professional customer service in a busy yard.
• English and Spanish communication preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and identify nonferrous metals and determine grade and contamination.
• Purchase material using price lists and obtain management approval for exceptions.
• Verify weights and report discrepancies in the scales and records.
• Enter purchase details accurately and review tickets before transactions.
• Explain classifications, prices, and procedures to customers professionally.
• Follow cash handling procedures and protect funds and records.
• Coordinate unloading with yard personnel and maintain separation of grades.
• Identify prohibited or hazardous materials and notify management if seen.
