Nondestructive (NDE) Examination Engineer - Sign on Bonus available for select candidates!

We are looking for a Nondestructive (NDE) Examination Engineer to join our Pittsburgh (Cheswick) location.

Your Responsibilities:

Curtiss-Wright EMD is searching for Nondestructive Examination Engineers to support its Quality Team in the design and manufacture of EMD’s highly engineered products. Since 1952, Curtiss Wright EMD has been integral to the US Navy’s nuclear propulsion program. You will play an important role by helping to implement the quality assurance program to support design and manufacturing, ensuring product standards.

Due to the nature of the position, some travel is expected at approximately 10%.

Your Challenge:
  1. Drive the planning, implementation, and maintenance of Non-destructive examination procedures and testing, to facilitate and oversee the quality program regarding Non-destructive examination scope

  2. Translate customer or regulatory requirements into organizational instructions

  3. Maintain internal employee certification and qualification reports for Operations and Inspection personnel

  4. Provide on-the-job and classroom NDE training for Operations, Inspection, and engineering personnel

  5. Perform routine NDE oversight, guidance, and reinspection

  6. Participate and review internal control processes:

    • Certified Material Test Report reviews

    • Procedure reviews

    • Requirements flow down

    • Quality inspection plans

  7. Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions

  8. Translate customer or regulatory requirements into organizational instructions

  9. Identify and resolve potential project or supplier quality issues

  10. Participate in external, internal, process, and supplier audits

What you Bring:
  1. BS in Engineering or related technical or science degree

  2. A minimum certification of ASNT SNT-TC-1A Level II or NAVSEA-250-1500-1 Inspector in NDE methods of MT, PT, RT, UT and/or VT

  3. Willingness to obtain Level III/Examiner certification in each NDE discipline, if not already obtained

  4. Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance

  5. Organizational, verbal, and written skills

  6. Self-starter, capable of working independently to drive actions to completion

  7. Ability to work in multiple team environments while providing technical input

  8. 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  9. BS in Materials Engineering preferred

  10. Knowledge of ASME B&PV Code, NAVSEA-250-1500-1, and/or Tech Pub 271/278

  11. Holds IRRSP certification

  12. Experience with training employees in manufacturing
