Job summary

Texas State University is seeking a full-time Lecturer in Spanish to teach writing, composition, technical writing, and culture. This position is based at the San Marcos campus, with potential teaching at the Round Rock campus and online.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or ABD, strong command of Spanish and English, and demonstrated university-level teaching experience. The proposed start date is August 15, 2026.

Position Description

The Department of World Languages and Literatures at Texas State University invites applications for a Lecturer position in Spanish with a focus on writing, composition, technical writing, language, and culture. Nontenured faculty are appointed to teach one to four courses per semester. Teaching appointments are based upon student demand on a semester-by-semester basis. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and departmental need. The successful candidate will teach at the San Marcos campus and may teach at the Round Rock campus and/or online, depending on the need of the Department. All positions are subject to availability of funds.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. or ABD in Spanish, Spanish Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, or a comparable field, completed by August 1, 2026.
• Native or near-native command of Spanish and English.
• Demonstrated teaching experience in Spanish at the university level.
• Strong commitment to teaching and collegial service.
