Job summary

Rothman Orthopaedics is seeking a Non‑Surgical Clinical Assistant to support physicians with daily administrative and clinical duties in a fast-paced office.

You will greet patients, manage pre‑certifications and document patient vitals, assist with injections and prepare exam rooms, and coordinate scheduling with the front desk. The role offers standard hours and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must hold active CCMA, CRMA, EMT or ATC certification.
  • Professional license/certification must be active and valid.
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Direct patients to scheduling and front desk for checkout.
  • Maintain exam room order, cleanliness, and supplies.
  • Prepare rooms for patients and assist with injections as needed.
  • Record vitals per physician request and manage documentation.
  • Scan and file paperwork to patient charts for physician review.

Job Summary

The Non‑Surgical Clinical Assistant provides assistance to the Physician and Physician's Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties.

Key Accountabilities
  • Increase patient satisfaction.
  • Compliance with scheduling, voicemail, end‑of‑day batching, time‑stamping, clinical policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain patient wait times, timeliness, and accuracy with pre‑certifications and authorizations.
Responsibilities
  • Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room.
  • Directs patients to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout.
  • Maintains order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepares the room for patients to enter.
  • Cleans and autoclaves instruments.
  • Provides and scans proper paperwork to the chart for Physician's review.
  • Records vitals as per Physician's request.
  • Prepares injections for the Physician.
  • Pulls up x‑rays, MRIs, CTs, and other studies pertaining to the patient's exam.
  • Assists patients with clothing when necessary.
  • Disposes of biohazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation, and replaces sharps containers when full.
  • Answers telephones in patient areas and provides voicemail coverage for Physician.
  • Requests reports for various facilities for Physicians.
  • Empties and restocks laundry.
  • Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen and directs Physician in patient appointment order.
  • Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation, ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present.
  • Completes pre‑certifications for MRIs and other Physician orders as necessary.
  • Send Visco Injection authorization request to supplement pre‑certification representative.
  • Scans information into patient record (including all Physician orders, prescriptions, etc. on the date of service).
  • Covers other areas in the office when not assigned to a Physician.
  • Covers provider jellybeans and voicemail as needed/requested.
  • Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.
  • Maintains knowledge of fax logs.
  • Exemplifies the organization’s culture and philosophies.
  • Develops and updates physician protocols for office hours, medication draws, patient education, voicemail/jelly beans, and clinical protocols; updates quarterly and hosts on the RO Intranet.
  • Responds to email communications within an appropriate time frame.
  • Identifies the weekly schedule, including schedule changes, published by manager.
  • Handles specimens (urine, blood, drainage from incisions, aspirated fluids, etc.) and labels accordingly, following provider orders to send specimens to the appropriate lab for analysis.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED (minimum).
  • Must be a CCMA, CRMA, EMT, or ATC.
  • Professional license/certification must be active and valid.
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology.
  • Computer skills, including MS Office Suite.
  • Experience with EMR system(s) preferred.
Employment Details

Office Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm

Total Hours per Week: 40

Status: Permanent

Expected Start: Autumn2026

Pay Range
  • Medical Assistant (CCMA/CRMA): $18.00/hr – $24.00/hr
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT‑A/EMT‑B): $18.00/hr – $24.00/hr
  • Athletic Trainer (ATC): $23.00/hr – $30.00/hr
