Job summary

Phoenix House Florida is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to manage day-to-day financial operations, ensure general ledger integrity, and support month-end close, grant accounting, revenue cycle, and audit prep.

Reporting to the Controller, you will handle A/P and A/R, assist with budget vs actuals, and collaborate with departments and vendors in a nonprofit healthcare setting with adherence to GAAP.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years accounting experience.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (preferred).
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access).

Responsibilities

• General Ledger Management: post invoices to correct expense accounts and align with annual operating budget.
• Accounts Payable: process vendor invoices, add vendors, handle 1099s, reconcile statements, manage payment schedules, and print checks.
• Accounts Receivable: monitor patient billing receipts, manage collections, reconcile third-party payer funds, post receipts to GL.
• Cash/Treasury: prepare and send daily cash requirements report to CEO, CFO and COO.
• Prepare monthly journal entries per US GAAP and input to AIS for Controller approval.
• Maintain schedules for fixed assets, depreciation, prepaid expenses, and inventory.
• Assist Controller in monitoring monthly budget vs. actual variances.
