Job summary

The Jewish Board is seeking a Social Worker Supervisor to provide clinical guidance and supervision to the program's clinical/case planner staff. This role performs intake, supervises weekly meetings, and ensures compliance with child welfare standards.

The position is hybrid, based in New York City, with travel within NYC; requires a Master's in Social Work and at least three years of related experience in child welfare or family therapy.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Social Work or related field is required.
A minimum of three years of related experience in Child Welfare and/or Family Therapy.
Experience with domestic violence, substance abuse, or community outreach is preferred.
Knowledge of in-home therapy and family therapy principles.
Familiarity with PROMIS and CNNX is a plus.

Responsibilities

Provides regularly scheduled weekly supervision to clinical staff.
Evaluates service plans (FASPs) considering safety/risk and needs of children and parents.
Facilitates Weekly clinical case conferences and Family Team Conferences.
Completes performance evaluations and supports professional development.
May supervise student interns and provide intake on new referrals.
Maintains notes and reports in ACS/CNNX and case records.
Covers for the Director in their absence and works a hybrid schedule.
Participates in incident reporting and FTCs; performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

PURPOSE: The purpose of a Mobility mentoring program in Preventive Service Department is to provide support for families with child(ren) (ages 0 to 17) The Preventive Services Department provides child welfare services using Evidence Based models to ensure that families are able to provide safe environments for their children, keep children safe in their homes and reduce the need for foster care. Prevention is an essential part of the child welfare continuum and requires a commitment to the wellbeing of all members of a client family. All services are provided in a family's home and community.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Social Worker Supervisor has full responsibility for the on-going clinical guidance of the clinical/case planner staff members. The Supervisor also provides on-going training and supervision to the clinical staff. The Supervisor may be called upon to perform any of the line functions normally performed by a social worker/case planner and is expected to be fully proficient in those areas. The Supervisor is familiar with all Preventive Service and Child Welfare Standards and functions as an internal resource on such matters.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides regularly scheduled weekly supervision to all clinical/case planning staff members.
Evaluates appropriateness of service plans (FASPs) and approves these based upon an understanding of any safety/risk concerns in the family and the service needs of the children and parents.
Facilitates weekly clinical case conference as well as Family Team Conferences
Completes job performance evaluations and provides professional development support on a regular basis.
May supervise student interns.
Responsible for intake on new referrals.
Provides frequent and appropriate feedback to program stakeholders including ACS Child Protection Understand ACS/OCFS electronic systems including PROMIS and CNNX
Provides all necessary notes, progress notes, other paperwork as required by ACS and JBFCS including entering monthly supervisory notes in CNNX for CWS cases and in the case record for ADVPO cases.
Cover for Director in his/her absence
Work a hybrid schedule based on program needs
Complete agency internal Incident Reports in Alltrac system.
Participate in Family Team Conferences (FTCs)
Other duties as assigned

CORE COMPETENCIES

Basic social work knowledge and understanding of stages of change
Ability to provide in home therapy and child welfare services
Ability to establish a strong therapeutic relationship with families.
Understanding of the use of family therapy principals to provide services
Understanding of early childhood development and related theories and models of practice
Strong Assessment skills to evaluate dynamics and interactions within the family
Ability to Implement strategies to improve family communication and support

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIRED

Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Creative Arts Therapy or a related subject area.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/LANGUAGE PREFERENCE

A minimum of three years of related experience in Child Welfare and/or Family Therapy. Specialized experience with specific client population or specialty (domestic violence, substance abuse, community outreach, etc.) is preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED

Knowledge of Microsoft office required Knowledge and experience with the Connections system preferred

VISUAL AND MANUAL DEXIERITY

Limited applications of manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL EFFORT

To perform the essential functions of this job the candidate must be able to travel within New York City carrying equipment such as a notebook, forms, laptop, mobile hotspot and cell phone weighing up to approximately 10 pounds Risks/hazards associated with the position are those which may be encountered travelling around New York City and interfacing with clients experiencing an acute mental health crisis or serious emotional disturbance Travel in the community and home-based work. Position is currently hybrid but can become 100% in person based on program need
