Job summary

Trinity Health Ann Arbor is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Non-Invasive Diagnostic Services department. The role supports direct patient care under a registered nurse, with a 6:30 am–3:00 pm shift and full-time status.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of direct care experience or completion of CENA/PCT/MA/EMT training. Training is provided to ensure successful performance and patient safety.

Qualifications

• At least one year of direct care experience or completion of CENA/PCT/MA/EMT training.
• Student nurses must have completed BSN fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and transport within the Noninvasive Diagnostic Services Department.
• Clean transesophageal echocardiogram probes; stock supplies and document patient data.
• Assist with IV catheter insertion/removal under RN direction and prep procedures.
• Deliver supplies, set up equipment, and support TEEs and vascular studies as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Purpose:

The PCT, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.

Shifts Available: 6:30 am-3:00pm

Status Available: Full-time. The department is closed on the holidays and weekends.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / LICENSURE

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

What you will do:

Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success.

• The PCT assists in streamlining the workflow in the Noninvasive Diagnostic Services Department, including patient transport, toileting, transferring, and ambulation with assistive devices.
• The PCT assists with cleaning the transesophageal echocardiogram probes, helps order supplies and stock the department, and records patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
• Responsibilities of the PCT also includes inserting or removing peripheral IV catheters under the direction of the Registered Nurse, patient procedure preparation by applying monitoring equipment, and running supplies to TEEs, vascular studies, or echocardiograms done outside of the department.
• Other duties as assigned.
