Job summary

Steel Dynamics, Inc. is looking for someone to manage day-to-day operations at the yard, ensuring the safety of employees and the quality of the products. Responsibilities include developing and training employees, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and managing inventory.

The ideal candidate will have supervisory experience in an industrial setting and strong communication skills. Qualified individuals should be able to work in various weather conditions and lift 50lbs or more.

Overview

Responsibilities

• Develop, lead, train, and discipline all employees within department.
• Ensure compliance in safety, environment, and personnel issues that may arise.
• Manage inventory on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
• Achieve established goals for labor, uptime, quality, and safety.
• Ensure product is consistent with customer specifications.
• Confirm quality and recovery. Maintain accurate inventory.
• Ability to work with and understand margin reports.
• All other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Adherence to retail purchase requirements.
• Working knowledge of Ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to train and motivate others.
• Understanding and adherence to safety regulations.
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
• Ability to lift 50lbs or more as required.
• Minimum of five years supervisory or lead experience in an industrial setting.
• Knowledge of Environmental best management practices.
