The appointment start date is ASAP, with some flexibility. The appointment is for two months. The research focuses on time-domain observations with the Spectral Energy Distribution Machine (SEDM) at the Kitt Peak 2.1 meter telescope in Arizona. Responsibilities include performing observations, data reduction, and analyzing ground-based telescope data to study multi-messenger, transient objects through photometric and spectroscopic observations with SEDM.
Required Qualifications: PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, or a related discipline by the appointment start date.
Preferred Qualifications: 0-2+ years of relevant experience, skills in programming (especially Python), data science, machine learning, statistics, strong optical photometric and spectroscopic observational experience, excellent communication, and collaboration skills.
