Job summary

ID Logistics US in Detroit is seeking a NON DOT Yard Jockey/Sitdown Forklift for a hybrid role on the 2nd shift (Tuesday–Friday, 5PM–3:30AM). The job pays $23.50 per hour plus $1.50 shift differential.

You will move trailers, operate sit-down forklifts, inspect equipment, and ensure safety and accuracy across loading docks and yard areas. This role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1 year of verifiable experience, and the ability to obtain necessary certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• 1 year verifiable experience.
• Must be able to operate a yard truck safely; forklift experience required; Class A CDL license may be required.
• Must be able to complete post-hire assessments.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain equipment certifications (e.g. OSHA).
• Must be able to wear PPE as required by safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Moves trailers by attaching drive unit to trailers and guiding them to docks for loading/unloading.
• Inspects trucks, lights, tires and reports any defects.
• Monitors refrigeration units and checks temperatures when needed.
• Keeps an orderly yard and paperwork for trailer locations; performs daily yard checks.
• Checks empty trailers for cleanliness.
• Reads and interprets safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
• Follows safety guidelines and site GMPs; reports noncompliance.
• Operates equipment safely and efficiently per work methods and OSHA standards.
• Loads/unloads, stocks, and stages products using powered industrial equipment.

Description of the Position

Drives gasoline or diesel-powered tractors to transport and spot trailers at appropriate loading docks and/or staging areas.

Operates gasoline-, liquefied gas-, or electric-powered industrial equipment equipped with lifting devices, such as sit-down, stand-up, clamp or other elevating equipment to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials in distribution center or storage yard.

Responsibilities

• Performs trailer movements by attaching drive unit to trailers to move to and from dock doors for loading and unloading.


• Checks trailer lights and tires and inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submit reports indicating truck condition.


• Monitors truck refrigeration units and may check temperature.


• Maintains an orderly lot and paperwork for trailer locations by performing daily yard checks.


• Checks empty trailers to ensure cleanliness.


• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.


• Write routine reports and correspondence.


• Adhere to all safety guidelines and rules.


• Follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and report noncompliance when observed.


• Observe all company safety rules and assist in enforcement as appropriate.

Load, unload, move, stock, and stage products and materials using powered industrial equipment.

• Maintain equipment and materials in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.


• On a daily basis, inspect assigned equipment.


• Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods and OSHA standards.


• Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations.


• Efficiently stack and store product in the appropriate areas.


• Pull and prepare products for shipment, ensuring the exact number and types of products are loaded and shipped.


• Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars, trailers, or containers.


• Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances.


• Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained.


• Assist in physical inventories.


• Ensure proper stock rotation.


• Follow customer requirements and/or other instructions to ensure accuracy: load count, stability of product, and that all products are loaded and unloaded safely.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of experience and education.


• 1-year verifiable experience.


• Must be able to operate a yard truck safely. Forklift experience necessary. Class A CDL license may be required.
