Job summary

Paylocity is seeking a Forklift Operator/Yard Hostler in Garland, TX for a first shift. You will unload inbound trailers, load outbound ones, and perform yard moves while maintaining safety and efficiency on the dock.

Responsibilities include trailer tracking, damage reporting, and ensuring proper sealing and inspection of equipment. A high school diploma or GED is required with forklift and hostler experience preferred.

Qualifications

• One to two years of forklift operator experience.
• Minimum 1-year hostler experience.
• Familiarity with shipping practices and handling methods.
• Propane sit-down forklift experience is a plus.
• Ability to operate yard truck safely around the facility.
• CDL is preferred but not required; verifiable experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Unload materials from inbound trailers and load outbound trailers.
• Perform required administrative tasks for inbound/outbound handling.
• Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies.
• Inspect forklift and record defects; ensure pre-shift checks.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly facility environment.
• Move and secure trailers, assist with yard logistics and trailer sequencing.

Job Purpose

Carefully move packages and material around our facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

1. Safely unload materials and merchandise from incoming trailers and load them to assigned outbound trailers.
2. Performs required administrative tasks, for inbound unloading and outbound loading.
3. Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies.
4. Inspect forklift to determine the need for repairs and note any defects on pre shift inspection form.
5. Help maintain a safe and orderly environment in the facilities.
6. Ensure freight is counted and loaded in the right DC trailer
7. Secure freight for transit.
8. Being able to operate air compressor for airbag usage.
9. Responsible for the movement and spotting of trailers to facilitate the needs of the warehouse in sorting and processing material for shipment.
10. Communicate with the Inbound and Outbound Lead’s on trailer move prioritization.
11. Documents and performs trailer moves on both the Inbound and Outbound operations.
12. Performs yard checks throughout the day for Inbound and Outbound.
13. Responsible for insuring seals are on applicable trailers.
14. Tracks trailer inspections.
15. Maintains the cleanliness of the grounds.
16. Assist customer’s carriers with instruction and direction while on the yard.
17. Verifies and/or reports damages.
18. Must function and interact daily with facility personnel and comply with facility safety requirements.
19. Comply with company policies and legal guidelines.
20. Other duties as required and assigned.
21. Schedule: 7am - 4pm or until; Sunday - Thursday

Education

• High school diploma or GED.

Working Conditions

1. Ability to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. (for extended periods of time).
2. Must be able to climb in and out of vehicles and occasionally work at height.
3. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance and must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 - 75 pounds.
4. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and can be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold including climates consistent with outside weather conditions year-round.
5. Occasionally exposure to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather).
6. Continually loud noise.

8. Ability to work in fast paced environment.
9. Shift: 1st Shift, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm or until; Tuesday - Saturday – 30% Forklift Operator – 70% Yard Hostler

Must be able to execute all the above functions and meet all the above demands safely, posing no threat to themselves or those around them while doing so, and must willingly comply with applicable safety regulations in the completion of all work.

Requirements

5. Operate yard truck in a safe manner.
6. Drive and operate a vehicle under 15 mph in and around facility.
7. Safe truck and trailer operating skills are required.
8. Experience with backing 53-foot trailers.
9. A current Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred; however, verifiable experience will be considered.
10. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
