Job summary

MetalTek International in the United States is seeking an entry-level Radiation Safety and X-Ray Technician trainee. The role supports radiographic operations, learning through Level I/II training, darkroom development, defect interpretation, and documentation of the inspection process. Training covers radiation safety and preparation for RT Level II certification, with opportunities to assist in other NDT disciplines.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and post High School education in NDT or a technical field is preferred.
• Ability to learn and practice Radiation Operating, Emergency, & Security Procedures.
• Ability to learn and complete certification to RT Level II, to NAS-410/MIL-STD standards.
• Able to follow written and verbal instruction with minimal supervision.
• Strong work ethic, excellent verbal and written skills; high attention to detail; team player.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Office, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Able to lift and carry 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist certified radiographers in radiographic operations, including technique selection, material positioning, and exposure of film to identify defects.
• Perform darkroom film development and interpret results to determine pass/fail based on defects, codes, standards, and customer specs; document inspection process.
• Move parts by hand and with forklifts/hoists to facilitate inspection.
• Learn radiation safety policies to ensure safety of personnel and the public.
• Obtain certifications and participate in other NDT disciplines as needed.

Description

• Successfully complete formal and informal Radiation Safety and X-Ray Technician Level I and II Training.
• Assist certified radiographers in the performance of radiographic operations including selection of appropriate techniques, positioning of materials, exposure of film, etc. to identify and assess defects in castings and weldments.
• Perform darkroom procedures to develop film. Learn interpretation of film results to determine whether parts pass or fail inspection based on knowledge of defect seriousness, codes, standards and customer specifications. Prepare necessary documentation of inspection process.
• Move parts by hand and using forklifts, hoists and other lifting equipment, to facilitate inspection.
• Learn radiation safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety of MetalTek personnel and the public.
• Obtain certification(s) and perform or assist in other NDT disciplines as needed.

Requirements
