Job summary

RTX is seeking an NDT Inspector – 2nd Shift (Mon–Thu 4:15pm–2:45am) in Asheville, NC to perform non‑destructive testing and inspect aircraft components per customer specs.

You will interpret results, prepare reports, and train team members while maintaining equipment and adhering to FAA data requirements and company procedures.

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ experience in any NDT method (e.g., PT, X-ray, UT, CT) or certification in NDT.
• 3+ years in a quality or technical role within a manufacturing environment.
• High School Diploma / GED or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform NDT inspections (PT, X-ray, UT, CT) per qualifications.
• Inspect aircraft components and document defects per specs.
• Interpret test results and prepare reports for customers.
• Maintain NDT equipment and ensure FAA/aircraft data compliance.
• Assist with inline checks, dimensional verification and documentation.

Job description

Position: NDT Inspector – 2nd Shift (Monday‑Thursday 4:15pm–2:45am)

Location: Asheville, NC (Onsite)

U.S. citizenship required.

What You Will Do

• Perform non‑destructive inspection (NDI) such as fluorescent penetrant, X‑ray, etch, ultrasonic, and CT scan based on qualifications.
• Clean and inspect aircraft components according to customer specifications, airworthiness directives, manufacturers CMM guidelines and operating procedures, and identify structural and material defects.
• Interpret test results, complete test reports, and present findings.
• Maintain NDT equipment, keep current knowledge of and comply with customer/Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)/Joint Aviation Administration (JAA) technical data applicable to the work assigned, and maintain proper segregation and identification of components in progress.
• Follow procedures to perform in‑line checks and verification of dimensions, ensure appropriate documentation, and confirm process steps are followed.
• Interpret engineering technical data, such as manufacturing or part drawings, to provide guidance to cross‑functional teams.
• Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments, including automated measuring, to perform Solumina required job audits for OpCert surveillance and OpCert over‑inspects as required.
• Bend, reach, pull, push, and train other inspectors to perform work tasks; provide technical support and maintain a strong working relationship with the operations team.
• Stand and walk for long periods and perform physical activities such as bending, reaching, pulling and pushing.

Qualifications You Must Have

• 1+ years’ experience in any NDT method (e.g., fluorescent penetrant testing, X‑ray, magnetic particle, CT, ultrasonic, etch) or certification or degree in any NDT method.
• 3+ years of experience in a quality or related technical role within a manufacturing/production facility.
• High School Diploma / GED or equivalent.

We Prefer

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with inspection gauges and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
