Job summary

Merrillville Community School Corporation seeks two Paraprofessionals for Title I tutoring at Indiana Horizon Academy in Crown Point, serving grades K-8 in ELA & Math. Tutoring is in-person after school, 3:15-4:15 p.m., up to 3 days a week, Oct 2 through May 24.

Under supervision of a certified teacher, you’ll assist in planning lessons, producing instructional materials, tutoring students, and maintaining records with confidentiality. Paraprofessional exam or ParaPro certificate required.

Qualifications

• 2 years college credit, associate degree, or passed the Paraprofessional exam.
• Provide official transcripts or Para Pro certificate.
• Proven reliability, good organization skills, and ability to work well with students, parents & staff.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.
• Assist in planning learning experiences for the students.
• Assist in the production of instructional materials and use of technology.
• Tutor students to strengthen skills or concepts under the supervision of the teacher.
• Complete necessary records documenting student attendance and instruction
• Maintain confidentiality of student information/data
• Submit account payable voucher and required documents in a timely manner.

TITLE: 2 Paraprofessional(s) - Title I Tutoring for Grade K-8: ELA & MATH for Indiana Horizon Academy Students

JOB GOAL:

Provide meaningful small group tutoring to identified Indiana Horizon Academy Title I students through tutoring in English and/or Math. Tutoring is in person and takes place at Indiana Horizon Academy, 9803 Colorado Street, Crown Point.

TIME FRAME:

3:15-4:15 p.m.

Up to 3 days per week, 1 hour a day, days to be determined

Beginning the week of October 2nd and ending the week of May 24th

• 1. 2 years college credit, associates degree, or passed the Paraprofessional exam
