Job summary

AdventHealth Sebring seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to receive soiled instruments, prepare, clean, disinfect, inspect, and verify items for sterilization in a hospital setting. Responsibilities include maintaining records, stocking supplies, and ensuring proper sterilization processes.

Preferred CSPDT/CRCST or a related certification with BLS; on-call duties may apply. Full-time day shift; location at 4200 SUN N LAKE BLVD, Sebring, FL 33872.

Qualifications

• Assures proper sterilization procedures are performed and the effectiveness of the sterilizing process.
• Maintains required records on sterilization and tracks equipment and instruments issued to nursing units.
• Demonstrates proficient use of equipment and knowledge of stocking and par levels.

Responsibilities

• Receives soiled and contaminated instruments or equipment from surgery, anesthesia, and nursing units.
• Prepares, cleans, and disinfects instruments and equipment appropriately.
• Inspects all instruments and equipment for damages or unacceptable condition.
• Prepares instruments and equipment for sterilization by verifying correct items and quantities.
• Maintains cleanliness and proper order in the work area.
• Assumes on-call assignments and takes responsibility for personal and professional development.

Job Description:

• Receives soiled and contaminated instruments or equipment from surgery, anesthesia, and nursing units.
• Prepares, cleans, and disinfects instruments and equipment appropriately.
• Inspects all instruments and equipment for damages, malfunction, or unacceptable condition.
• Prepares instruments and equipment for sterilization by verifying correct items and quantities.
• Assures proper sterilization procedures are performed and the effectiveness of the sterilizing process.
• Maintains required records on sterilization and tracks equipment and instruments issued to nursing units.
• Assists with maintaining adequate supply levels and supply preparation for surgical cases.
• Maintains cleanliness and proper order in the work area.
• Demonstrates proficient use of all equipment and knowledge of stocking and par levels for nursing units.
• Shows dependability and flexibility in meeting the scheduling needs of the department.
• Assumes on-call assignments and takes responsibility for personal and professional development.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Associate [Preferred]
• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• Previous sterile processing technician experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
• Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) [Preferred] OR Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) [Preferred]

Pay Range:

$15.58 - $24.92
