Job summary

US Foods, Inc. is hiring a Yard Jockey in Columbia, SC. The role involves moving trailers, docking, and coordinating with the dispatcher to ensure efficient door and backhaul operations. You will help keep yards clean and fueled, and you must meet safety standards.

The position requires at least 21 years old, with six months of CDL driving preferred, and the ability to pass a DOT physical. Manual transmission experience is a plus, and training and overtime are provided.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Minimum of six months CDL commercial driving experience preferred.
• Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations.
• Must be able to pass DOT physical.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers to and from dock doors based on supervisor or shipping office instructions while upholding safety standards.
• Communicate with Dispatcher/Router for truck/trailer and door assignments.
• Stage shuttle trailers nightly for shuttle drivers and set up trailers for backhaul with tractor and pallets.
• Load, unload, or merge loads between environments and place backhauls in the correct door for unloading.
• Ensure equipment is paired and ready for the next day and coordinate with mechanics as needed.
