Job summary

IDEA Public Schools in San Antonio, Texas, seeks a SPED Transportation Driver to safely transport students to and from home and campus daily, while helping reduce operating costs. The role offers hourly pay ($16.32–$20.40) with a performance bonus potential and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and paid leave.

The position requires a HS diploma or GED, at least 21 years old, and a minimum of one year driving a non-CDL vehicle.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Minimal 1 year experience driving a non-CDL vehicle passenger vehicle.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, etc.
• Expected to work a minimum of 32 hours per week - not including extra-curricular activities assigned by campus.
• Must be able to work extended hours when necessary to meet business needs.

Responsibilities

• Drives a SPED approved vehicle safely, in accordance with time schedules.
• Transports students to and from homes, school sites, and field trips as assigned.
• Oversees loading/unloading of students; releases to authorized individuals; ensures seat belts are fastened.
• Maintains order and discipline; resolves disputes; reports severe disciplinary cases.
• Conducts daily safety and operational inspections of assigned vehicle.
• Maintains records including mileage, routing, maintenance, and time schedules.
• Notifies appropriate individuals of route delays.
