Job summary

Food Bank for New York City seeks a Driver to safely transport and deliver produce, frozen, and dry goods across New York City. You will load/unload, verify quantities and dates, and ensure timely, accurate documentation while representing the organization professionally.

Responsibilities include completing daily trips, maintaining vehicles, and providing courteous service to partner agencies, donors, and team members.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• Safe driving record required.
• No DUIs, DWIs, or major accidents in past 24 months.
• 18 years or older.
• Ability to pass a drug test.
• Ability to pass a standard background check.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to use mobile devices for communication/documentation.
• Ability to complete multiple deliveries daily.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently with a diverse team.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Inspect products for quantities, expiration dates, and accuracy.
• Obtain signatures and necessary shipping documents.
• Complete and return paperwork and logs on time.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and maintenance checks.
• Communicate route updates to leadership.
• Provide professional customer service to partners, agencies, donors, and staff.
• Attend to other transportation/warehouse duties as assigned.

Job description

Food Bank for New York City’s Drivers are essential to our mission and operations. This role is responsible for safely transporting and delivering produce, frozen, and dry food products to member agencies, suppliers, donors, and other designated locations throughout New York City. Drivers represent Food Bank in a professional and courteous manner while ensuring timely deliveries, accurate documentation, and excellent customer service.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safely operate company vehicles to complete assigned deliveries and pickups.
• Deliver and pick up produce, frozen, and dry food products to member agencies, suppliers, donors, and other assigned locations.
• Load and unload trailers using forklifts, electric pallet jacks, and/or hand trucks.
• Inspect products and verify quantities, expiration dates, and shipment accuracy.
• Obtain shipping bills and necessary signatures for all deliveries and pickups.
• Complete and return all required paperwork and electronic logs accurately and on time.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections including checking oil, water, fuel, and tire pressure.
• Remove empty pallets and return them to designated areas.
• Communicate effectively with transportation leadership regarding route updates, issues, or customer needs.
• Provide professional and courteous customer service in all interactions with partners, agencies, donors, and team members.
• Other transportation and warehouse-related duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
• Reliable and regular attendance is expected.

Compensation for this role is $23.50/hr, $3,000 Sign-On Bonus paid in increments & Quarterly Safety Bonuses
