Job summary

Sabenza IT & Recruitment is seeking a Senior Back-End Developer to design, develop, and operate scalable cloud-based back-end applications. You will build serverless solutions with Node.js on AWS and manage APIs, event-driven services, and integrations with energy partners.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of production Node.js in serverless environments, strong AWS serverless experience, automated testing, and leadership in IT teams.

Qualifications

• Relevant IT degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years production experience with Node.js in serverless environments.
• 5+ years AWS serverless tech stack (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS).
• 5+ years automated testing (unit and end-to-end).
• Leadership experience in IT teams or technical guidance.
• Strong SQL and NoSQL database knowledge.
• Experience with Infra as Code (CloudFormation).
• Experience CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
• Knowledge of cloud computing, Kubernetes, monitoring, and logging.
• AWS Developer Associate at minimum; higher certs beneficial.

• Design, develop, and operate scalable back-end apps in cloud; production-ready.

What you'll be doing

• Design, develop, and operate scalable, production-ready back-end applications in a cloud-based environment.
• Build and maintain serverless solutions using Node.js and AWS technologies.
• Develop and manage APIs, event-driven services, and integrations with external systems and energy partners.
• Work with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, S3, and CloudWatch.
• Implement automated unit and end-to-end testing to maintain high-quality, reliable code.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code solutions.
• Monitor application performance, analyse logs, troubleshoot issues, and support 24/7 production operations.
• Apply cloud security best practices and ensure solutions meet technical and quality standards.
• Collaborate with customers, developers, teams, and external vendors to deliver effective solutions.
• Take ownership of complex technical challenges, identify risks, and drive solutions forward.
• Share knowledge, mentor team members, and contribute to technical design and architectural decisions.

Requirements

Essential requirements:

• A relevant IT degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of production experience with Node.js in serverless environments.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with AWS serverless technologies, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and SQS/SNS.
• At least 5 years of automated testing experience, including unit and end-to-end testing.
• Experience leading IT teams or providing technical leadership.
• Strong experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably CloudFormation.
• Experience designing, configuring, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions.
• Knowledge of cloud computing, Kubernetes, serverless architecture, networking, monitoring, and log analytics.
• Understanding of software design and architecture patterns.
• Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
• AWS Developer Associate certification at minimum is preferred as a qualification benchmark, with Professional-level certifications advantageous.
