Job summary

Mammoth Hospital is seeking a Night Shift Nursing Supervisor to provide middle management coverage for the Nursing Department and hospital operations during the night shift. You will coordinate staffing, oversee clinical and administrative links, and support on-call leadership for emergencies.

Requirements include a California RN license, at least five years of acute care experience, and BLS certification with ACLS/PALS to be obtained within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• State of California Registered Nurse license.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Minimum of five years acute care experience.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification required.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross ACLS and PALS certifications must be obtained within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient care requirements on each unit, by making rounds in all areas of the hospital.
• Work with Nursing Departments to develop and implement staffing plans for night shift based on patient census and available staff.
• Serve as a resource to staff for solving clinical and interdepartmental problems.
• Respond to emergency situations (RRT, Code Blue) and assist as necessary.
• Report to the administrator on-call significant incidents and problems.
• Assist staff to provide a safe work environment for patient care.
• Assist staff to interpret change in a positive manner.
• Consistently and interdependently follow established safety and infection control procedures. Intervene in unsafe situations.

The Night Shift Nursing Supervisor is a middle management position for supervisory coverage of the Nursing Department, other patient care areas and the hospital in general during the night shift. Responsibilities require knowledge of hospital and nursing policies and procedures. The Nursing Supervisor duties include administrative and clinical links between the nurse manager and department direction in their absence, and the administrator – on- call.
