Job summary

JCS Solutions is seeking an NMCC Systems Engineer to design, implement, manage, and monitor systems within the National Military Command Center at the Pentagon. The role requires VMware environments, Windows Server administration, Linux operating systems, system integration, troubleshooting, cybersecurity best practices, and the ability to operate in a TS/SCI environment.

You will work with systems engineers, administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and government stakeholders to support

Qualifications

Must be a US Citizen.
Required Security Clearance: TS/SCI.
DoD 8750.01 IAT Level II Certifications: at minimum one of Security+ CE (Preferred), CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP.
BS Degree in Information Technology and 8 years work experience can be in lieu of degree.
Minimum of four years' experience, of which at least three years must be specialized experience in administrating computer systems.
General experience includes operations experience on a large-scale computer system or a multi-server local area network.
Experience with Secure Technical Implementation Guidance (STIG) hardening practices.
Experience with Linux operating systems (Red Hat and CentOS).
Extensive experience with VMware deployments and migrations, High Availability, Fault-Tolerance.

Responsibilities

Designing, implementing, managing and monitoring of existing and new systems within the NMCC.
Collaborate with systems engineers, administrators, and government stakeholders to support mission-critical operations.
Document work in Remedy tickets and communicate progress to leadership.
Develop schedules and timelines for leadership review.
Collaborate with system admins, multimedia engineers, and telecommunications engineers to design and troubleshoot systems.
Brief status updates or present problems and solutions to government and DOD personnel.
Explain technical issues to non-technical personnel professionally.
Work with IS personnel within NMCC and third-party vendors on IT solutions and integration.
Establish baseline hardware/software configuration for IT networks within NMCC.
Assist in security, privileges, and maintenance tasks; produce SOPs and reports.
Coordinate with Cybersecurity teams to harden systems per DISA guidelines.
Maintain a cybersecurity and risk management mindset in NMCC environments.
Develop, execute and document test plans to ensure protection and availability.
Support VMware-hosted environments and Veeam backup solutions.
