Leidos is seeking an NLP & AI Applied Machine Learning Engineer to design, develop, and deploy AI/ML solutions supporting NIH grant intake, peer review, and analytics. Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in data science, CS, computational linguistics, or related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in applied ML, data science, or related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python (preferred) and/or R.
• Proven experience delivering ML solutions, including model development, evaluation, and pipeline implementation.
• Hands-on experience developing and applying ML models.
• Familiarity with NLP techniques such as text classification and semantic similarity.
• Experience in cloud or shared computing environments (Azure, Biowulf).
• Proficiency in building and maintaining data processing or ML pipelines.
• Experience cleaning, preprocessing, and engineering features from real-world datasets.
• Knowledge of ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn).
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Aufgaben

• Design, develop, and maintain AI/ML solutions to enhance NIH grant application intake, peer review processes, and analytical insights.
• Apply NLP and ML techniques for reviewer-application matching and document analysis.
• Build end-to-end ML pipelines from data ingestion to output delivery.
• Debug, test, and optimize ML pipelines for reliability and scalability.
• Refine code for performance and maintainability, and ensure reproducible workflows.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate business needs into AI/ML solutions.
• Document methods, results, and limitations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Stay updated on NLP, embeddings, and generative AI developments and assess relevance to NIH projects.
