Job summary

C+C Apartment Management LLC in Newark (NJ) seeks a maintenance professional to support the maintenance department. You will perform cleanup, assist in occupancy readiness, and ensure common areas are well maintained.

The role requires 1–2 years of maintenance or construction experience, basic janitorial knowledge, and lead paint certification. You will work indoors and outdoors, handling snow removal and using floor care equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years’ experience in maintenance or construction.
• Basic knowledge of janitorial procedures.
• ALC lead paint certification.
• Ability to interact with residents with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Remove garbage and recycling and prepare for sanitation pick-up.
• Knowledge of e cycle regulations.
• Comply with building-wide recycling obligations, including sorting recycling items.
• Sweep, mop, buff and wax interior public halls, stairwells and lobby.
• Sweep and wash sidewalks and exterior passageways.
• Assist with occupancy preparation for vacant apartments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
• Notify Superintendent if service requests cannot be completed.
• Maintain workshop and storage area neatly.
• Keep tools and equipment maintained and in good condition.
• Ensure vacant units and common areas are maintained.
• Maintain a professional, courteous attitude with residents and coworkers.
• Work with Superintendent and staff to complete assignments timely.
• Adhere to Company policies and procedures.
• Experience with snow removal and power floor cleaner, carpet shampoo machine, power drain cleaner.
• Other duties as assigned

JOB DESCRIPTION

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: General Manager or Property Manager

Areas of Responsibility:

• Remove garbage and recycling and prepare for sanitation pick-up
• Knowledge of e cycle regulations
• Comply with all building-wide recycling obligations, including checking and sorting recycling items when necessary
• Sweep, mop, buff and wax all interior public halls, stairwells and lobby area
• Sweep and wash all sidewalks and exterior passageways
• Assist with preparation of occupancy for vacant apartments
• Performing additional duties as deemed necessary by the Superintendent
• Appropriately notify the Superintendent if service requests cannot be completed.
• Maintain workshop and storage area in a clean, neat and orderly fashion.
• Keep Company tools, equipment properly maintained and in good working order.
• Responsible for physical maintenance and appearance of vacant units, public areas, hallways, grounds maintenance areas, offices, laundry areas
• Consistently maintain a professional, courteous attitude when dealing with residents, co-workers and the general public.
• Work with Superintendent and Staff to complete assignments timely.
• Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
• Experience with snow removal and power floor cleaner, carpet shampoo machine, power drain cleaner etc.
• Other duties as assigned

Essential Job Functions:

• Ability to function both inside and outside in all types of weather.
• Medium to heavy work requiring prolonged or repeated standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and lifting to a maximum of 100 lbs., with frequent lifting and carrying up to 50lbs.
• Good eye/hand coordination essential

Minimum Experience Required:

• 1-2 years’ experience in maintenance and/or construction is ideal

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Basic knowledge of janitorial procedures
• Ability to interact with residents and handle complaints with reasonable discretion
• Floor care knowledge
• ALC lead paint certification
• Ability to interact with residents with reasonable discretion
