Job summary

NIST CNST NanoFab in Gaithersburg, Maryland seeks a Software Developer / Database Specialist to build and maintain the SPM system and Virtual Database, using Java, SQL, and Python. You will develop complex reports, automate data tasks, and integrate multiple data sources across CNST applications.

The role requires mid-to-senior level expertise, experience with Jasper Reports, Birt, and enterprise data tooling, and the ability to obtain a NIST site badge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or related field required.
• Minimum five years of software development experience.
• U.S. Citizenship or permanent residency required; must obtain a NIST site badge.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance the SPM application.
• Write Java/Kotlin/JSP/HTML/CSS/JS and SQL code.
• Develop Java-based reports to extract PI and project data.
• Update procedures per NIST/CNST requirements.
• Automate renewal procedures and notifications.
• Manage VDB with XML, SQL, and Teiid/JBoss.
• Write complex cross-database SQL queries.
• Support Oracle RDBMS and PostgreSQL databases.
• Maintain Jasper Reports and Birt reports in SPM.
• Develop CSV/PDF exports for stats and reports.
• Implement automated reconciliation across systems.
• Maintain NBS REST API (Python) and CNST-Zotero integration.
