Responsibilities

  • Receive job packets for production part orders and determine which press/die to use.
  • Shut down machine using safety procedures and prepare to load/unload die.
  • Load raw material (steel coils) onto machine with forklift and secure it for production.
  • Operate spot welders to attach fasteners to plates and inspect welded parts.
  • Move finished parts to packing/shipping area and maintain machine performance.
  • Complete paperwork and document production counts for each run.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in each department area.

Summary

Candidates for Nights/Weekends Machine Operator must possess a will to learn how to operate various kinds of equipment, an aptitude to develop a skilled trade, impeccable attendance and an attitude to succeed! We are excited to offer training in multiple departments that may include Metal Finishing, Packaging, Mechanical Presses, Laser/Turret Machines, Welding, and Machining.

Essential Functions

This list may include but not limited to and is subject to change based on role.

  • Receive job packets for production part orders.
  • Depending on department, determine which Press and Die will be used to produce the production parts.
  • Shut down machine using proper safety procedures and prepare to unload and load correct die.
  • Load raw material (steel coils ranging in size) onto the machine using the Forklift and securing coil of steel for production of part.
  • Operate high voltage spot welders in a safe manner. Involves placing fasteners on steel parts and then initiating the high voltage welder to secure fastener to plate.
  • Welding
  • Maintaining counts of pieces or products while preparing them for packing & shipping
  • Place finished part on skid or in box.
  • Complete paperwork.
  • Move finished part to next area of production.
  • Maintain machines after each production run.
  • Ensure shop cleanliness in each department area.
Required Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:

  • Ability to operate computer
  • Knowledge of steel types (stainless, cold rolled) and location of these raw materials in inventory
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, MSDS Sheets, blueprints, maintenance instructions, and job packets/procedures.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
