Job summary

US FOODS in Columbia, SC is seeking a Yard Jockey to move trailers to and from dock doors, following safety rules and directions from supervisors.

You will communicate with dispatchers, stage trailers, set up for backhaul, and ensure equipment is ready for the next day. The role requires at least 21 years old, and a CDL with six months experience preferred; a DOT physical is required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Minimum of six months CDL commercial driving experience preferred.
• Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations.
• Must be able to pass DOT physical.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers to and from dock doors following supervisor instructions and safety standards.
• Communicate with Dispatcher/Router for truck/trailer and door assignments.
• Stage shuttle trailers nightly for shuttle drivers and set up trailers for backhaul with tractor and pallets.
• Keep assigned equipment coupled and ready for the next day’s deliveries.
• Load, unload, or merge loads between environments and place backhauls in correct doors.
