Job summary

City of Morganton seeks a Water Treatment Plant Operator for Water Resources to ensure safe potable water through monitoring, testing, and process adjustments. The role covers laboratory duties, maintenance support, and extensive record keeping.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Prefer some experience in a water or wastewater plant.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license required.
• Ability to obtain North Carolina Water Operator’s Grade C Certificate within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Monitor plant operation through observation, mechanical readings, and tests.
• Perform standard laboratory duties and tests.
• Make adjustments in the process as conditions or test results dictate.
• Maintain substantial records of work activities.
• Assist with plant and facilities maintenance.
