Job summary

Boston MedFlight seeks an experienced air medical helicopter pilot to operate missions with a focus on safety and patient care. You will fly single-pilot VFR/IFR, conduct rigorous pre/post-flight checks, and collaborate with clinical staff to support critical care transport.

Responsibilities include planning routes, assessing weather, and ensuring regulatory compliance while loading and unloading patients with precision.

Qualifications

• FAA Commercial Rotorcraft- Helicopter License with Instrument Rating.
• Must obtain an ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) Certificate within one year.
• Current and Valid FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate required upon hire.
• Successfully complete FAA Class I Flight Physical on an annual basis.
• Minimum of 1,500 total flight hours (rotorcraft) as Pilot in Command, 500 hours cross country and 100 hours of night flight time required.
• Previous experience in Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) or Part 135 operations strongly preferred.
• Preferred Night Vision Goggle (NVG) experience.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate helicopter air transport missions under FARs (single-pilot VFR/IFR).
• Perform pre-/post-flight inspections for airworthiness and compliance.
• Monitor weather and flight systems to make go/no-go decisions.
• Respond to medical transport requests including scene calls and interfacility transfers.
• Load/unload patients and equipment with medical teams.
• Maintain clear communication with ATC, ground support, medical teams, and dispatch.
