Job summary

Boston MedFlight is seeking an air ambulance rotorcraft pilot to lead safe, efficient air transport missions, including emergency medical flights, interfacility transfers, and scene responses. The role demands exceptional flying skills, sound judgment under pressure, and a commitment to patient safety.

You will operate in single-pilot VFR/IFR conditions, coordinate with clinical and operational staff, plan routes, file flight plans, and maintain logs in compliance with FARs and company policies.

Qualifications

• FAA commercial rotorcraft- helicopter license with instrument rating required.
• ATP certificate must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
• Current and valid FAA Class 1 Medical Certificate required on hire.
• Annual FAA Class I flight physical required.
• Minimum 1,500 PIC rotorcraft hours; 500 cross-country; 100 night hours.
• Experience in HEMS or Part 135 preferred.
• NVG experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate helicopter in FARs, including single-pilot VFR/IFR operations.
• Pre- and post-flight inspections to ensure airworthiness.
• Monitor aircraft systems and weather; make go/no-go decisions.
• Respond to medical transport requests including scene calls and transfers.
• Load/unload patients and equipment with medical teams.
• Maintain clear communication with ATC, ground support, medical teams, and dispatch.
• Plan routes considering weather, airspace, NOTAMs, fuel, and terrain.
• Use navigation tools to ensure safe routing and efficient operations.
• Adhere to GOM, SMS, and company policies; participate in safety initiatives.
• Document discrepancies; coordinate with maintenance; keep logs.
