Job summary

Albany Med Health System is seeking a Unit Coordinator for General Pediatrics to support daily operations, patient records, reception and customer service. The role uses EPIC and other systems to keep patient flow smooth and coordinates with nursing and billing teams.

The position requires a high school diploma, 1–3 years healthcare/clerical experience, and strong communication. Associate degree preferred; duties include scheduling, charge entry, and unit communications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. is required.
• Associate's Degree is preferred.
• 1-3 years healthcare or clerical experience is required.
• Ability to coordinate and work with various disciplines and departments.
• Able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and patient information systems.
• Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assembles/maintains patient records and prepares reports for operations.
• Greet and assist visitors in a courteous manner.
• Utilize clinical and patient information systems to support patient care.
• Coordinate department communications and screen calls.
• Assist in orientation of new administrative staff.
• Maintain supplies and equipment; troubleshoot office equipment.
• Assist in scheduling and payroll/timekeeping systems.
• Coordinate communications, relay requests to unit staff.
• Respond to patient/family needs considering age and characteristics.
• Monitor patient call bell system and respond to requests.
• Collaborate with other departments for admissions, discharges, transfers.
• Update bed placement data in HEV/Enterprise visibility as needed.
• Enter patient charges and coordinate with billing.
