Job summary

South Texas Health System (STHS) McAllen is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join the Trauma Team for nights-only coverage. The role focuses on high-acuity trauma care alongside an experienced surgical team, with competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.

You will work within a Level I Trauma Center setting, supported by multidisciplinary trauma surgeons and APPs, with Cerner EMR coordination and opportunities for growth within the trauma program.

Qualifications

• Certified Physician Assistant with trauma experience preferred.
• Active or eligible Texas medical license or certification.
• Trauma care experience highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with trauma surgeons to manage pre- and post-operative trauma patients.
• Conduct tertiary evaluations of trauma admissions under physician direction.
• Assist with trauma quality performance improvement initiatives.
• Perform complex patient care procedures delegated by supervising physicians.
• Assess patient complaints and provide appropriate treatments.
• Perform minor surgical procedures as delegated.
• Communicate complex patient issues and update treating teams.
• Order and interpret labs and diagnostics in collaboration with surgeons.
• Monitor treatment plans and respond to emergency trauma alerts.
