Job summary

AdventHealth in Castle Rock, Colorado is seeking a part-time Monitor Technician for the night shift to support telemetry monitoring and patient care. You will document in the telemetry logbook, observe EKG patterns, and communicate changes to nursing staff.

You will maintain alarms, participate in quality initiatives, and continuously upgrade skills through ongoing education and training. Demands include weekends and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Must complete AdventHealth Monitor Technician training or equivalent.
• Must read, write, and speak conversational English.
• Proficiency in the English language.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Pleasant telephone manner and organizational skills.
• Ability to work with patients/public in potentially difficult situations.
• Completion of basic arrhythmias identification course in orientation.
• Ability to learn quickly and complete a competency skill check off list within 90 days of employment.
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible workweek including weekends, nights, and overtime as required.
• Customer service skills.
• Demonstrates specialized knowledge of hospital nursing practices, telemetry, and infection control procedures.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology or willingness to learn.
• Ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Documents in accordance with department policy and maintain telemetry logbook.
• Observes monitors, recognizing and documenting normal and abnormal EKG patterns, and promptly notify nursing staff of any abnormalities.
• Maintains monitor alarms per policy, verifies alarms are set and audible every shift, and troubleshoots monitors as needed.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities, documenting and monitoring activities, and supporting quality standards.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrade skills, performing other duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation.
• Maintains telemetry printout during cardiac arrest and as indicated.
• Ensures effective communication with the healthcare team regarding patient status and changes observed.
• Assists in maintaining a clean and organized work environment, equipment sanitized and stored.
• Participates in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices.
• Other duties as assigned.
