Job summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham, AL seeks a Monitor Tech for full-time night shifts (7:15 PM–6:45 AM) with a 3x12 schedule. Responsibilities include continuous monitoring, rhythm interpretation, and escalation to RNs as needed in a busy telemetry unit.

Requirements include high school diploma, ECG competency, and preferred EMT or telemetry experience. Weekend shifts include at least one Sat/Sun. This role supports critical care services and patient safety in the Hospital.

Qualifications

• Must pass Rhythm Test with 84% or higher during orientation.
• If no related experience, complete ECG course and Rhythm Test within 60 days with 84%+.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and reviews patient information to determine baseline cardiac rhythm.
• Notifies RN of rhythm or component changes per escalation protocol.
• Maintains knowledge of central monitoring station operation and alarm settings.
• Gives and accepts shift reports to provide current patient information.
• Identifies and troubleshoots routine technical problems with the monitoring system.
