Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) in Galveston, TX seeks an Allied Health professional to perform comprehensive polysomnographic testing, analysis, and education for sleep disorders under limited supervision.

This role involves data acquisition, preparing summaries for sleep specialists, and applying EEG/EP/EMG sensors across age groups, with a night shift and collaborative work with students and residents.

Qualifications

  • No experience required; current BCLS, or eligibility for BCLS, required.
  • Completion of an accredited polysomnography training program or A-STEP.
  • Registered in Sleep Technology through ABSM, NBRC, BRPT, or equivalent per AASM.

Responsibilities

  • Performs polysomnographic data acquisition while monitoring study quality and adjusting as needed.
  • Gathers and analyzes patient information to meet sleep center protocols.
  • Prepares a summary of technical findings for interpretation by a sleep specialist.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide age-specific care across pediatric to geriatric patients.
  • Prepares and calibrates equipment to ensure proper functioning and adjusts as necessary.
  • Applies electrodes and sensors according to standard guidelines.
  • Follows protocols to ensure proper data collection and responds to patient questions.
  • Provides assistance to rotating students, interns, and residents.
  • Maintains high medical ethics standards at all times.
  • Aids the Program Manager with Sleep Disorders Center accreditation and quality measures.
  • Shows initiative to advance sleep medicine knowledge and technologies.
  • Adheres to internal controls established for the department.
