Job summary

What You’ll Do:

  1. Promote Safety: Prioritize safety in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards throughout the plant for yourself and others.
  2. Become Familiar with Tools and Equipment: Use a variety of hand and power tools in performing duties.
  3. Learn to Diagnose Problems: Diagnose issues, replace or repair parts, detect and replace defective components, test, and make adjustments.
  4. Learn to Weld: Perform duties to install and maintain production machines, including planning, laying out, installing, and repairing equipment.
  5. Perform Maintenance: Conduct maintenance and carpentry functions, including regular preventative maintenance.
  6. Complete Apprenticeship Program: Attend and successfully complete a three-year apprenticeship with classroom training.
  7. Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.

Skills You’ll Need:

  1. Education: High School Diploma or GED required; technical school preferred.
  2. Functional Knowledge: Knowledge of welding materials, properties, metals, blueprints, and ability to wire feed welding machines.
  3. Welding Skills: Experience in brazing, welding, arc-welding, and cutting.
  4. Flexibility: Willing to work overtime, extended hours, outside in all weather, and tolerate loud noises.
  5. Mechanical Skills: Knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
