Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Unit Coordinator (Charge Nurse) for the Medical Oncology/Telemetry Nights unit. This full-time role provides charge nurse leadership, manages assignments and throughput, and mentors staff to achieve high-quality patient care and staff satisfaction.

You will work with the Nurse Manager and HR on performance matters and contribute to unit performance improvement and budget targets.

Qualifications

• BSN required upon hire; ADN prepared nurses must enroll in BSN within 6 months and complete BSN by third anniversary of hire date.
• BLS certification is required (American Heart Association).
• NCL (Nurse Compact License) must be secured within 60 days of hire.
• MSN preferred for advancement.
• This role includes leadership, performance improvement, and budget considerations.

Responsibilities

• Provide charge nurse leadership and assignments within Medical Oncology/Telemetry.
• Manage throughput and staffing to meet patient care needs.
• Coach and evaluate staff, partner with Nurse Manager and HR on performance matters.
• Promote clinical excellence and staff/patient satisfaction.
• Contribute to unit performance improvement activities and budget compliance.
